Alerts and incidents
Create alert rules, choose active schedules, and acknowledge incidents.
What is an alert?
An alert is how Trakngo tells you that something worth attention happened in your fleet—speeding, a zone crossing, movement outside hours, or a fuel, battery, maintenance, or ignition condition.
- Alert rule
- The configuration you create: what to watch, the threshold, when it may trigger, and which vehicles it covers.
- Incident
- A recorded occurrence where real tracker data matched a rule. Incidents are what your team reviews and acknowledges.
Rules and incidents
Alerts turn matching tracker events into an incident your team can review. A rule defines what to watch, when it can trigger, and which vehicles it covers. An incident is a recorded match that can be acknowledged.
Alert rules
Create, edit, enable, or disable the conditions monitored across your fleet.
Active incidents
Filter current events by severity, type, or acknowledgement status and record that they were reviewed.
Create an alert rule
- 1
Start a new rule
Open Alerts, switch to Alert rules, then select New alert rule.
- 2
Choose the condition
Enter a clear name, choose the Alert type, set its severity, and provide the threshold required by that type.
- 3
Set the Trigger schedule
Allow the rule to trigger at any time, or choose the days and time windows when matching events should count.
- 4
Assign vehicles
Use the Fleet tab to search and select vehicles. Review the final set under Selected. A rule without selected vehicles will not fire.
- 5
Save and confirm it is enabled
Return to Alert rules to verify the rule shows the expected type, schedule, vehicle count, and Enabled status.
Available alert types
The meaning and units of the threshold depend on the alert type and tracker configuration. Use a descriptive rule name so responders can understand the condition without opening the editor.
Choose the right schedule
The schedule controls when matching events are accepted. Outside those windows, matching events are ignored. Use Always active for safety or equipment conditions that need continuous coverage.
Review and acknowledge incidents
1. Open Active incidents
Use the summary cards to scan active, critical or high, recent, and enabled-rule counts.
2. Narrow the queue
Filter by search text, severity, alert type, or acknowledgement status.
3. Select Acknowledge
Acknowledge an incident after it has been reviewed or actioned. This records its status; it does not change or disable the underlying rule.
Permissions
Viewing, acknowledging, and managing alerts are separate permissions. If you can see incidents but cannot acknowledge them or open Alert rules, ask an organisation admin to review your role.
