Common questions

Who is GPS tracking for?

GPS tracking helps sole operators through to national fleets. Trakngo stays streamlined for small teams while retaining the depth larger businesses need for alerts, reporting, and governance.

What kind of vehicles can I track?

Our hard-wired 4G tracker suits almost any powered asset, including:

  • Trailers, cars, trucks, vans, utes, motorcycles
  • Excavation equipment, tractors, caravans
What is iButton driver identification?

iButton is a rugged key each driver presents to an in-cab iReader before starting the vehicle. It works with a wired FMC130 tracker so Trakngo knows who is driving, which drivers are allowed to start the vehicle, and when to revoke access—without chasing physical keys. Learn more about iButton.

How does an asset-tracking beacon work?

A Bluetooth Low Energy beacon broadcasts a short-range signal. When a compatible Trakngo tracker sees that beacon, the platform can infer proximity and asset presence—ideal for equipment that does not have its own GPS module.

How much does GPS tracking cost?

Hardware is typically purchased up front, with a monthly service fee for connectivity and software. Bundling hardware and service lets us keep commercial pricing sharp—your account team will size this to fleet count and mix.

Do I provide a SIM or pay for data separately?

No need—SIMs ship with compatible trackers and mobile data is included in the monthly service for standard deployments. Confirm details on your order form.

Does a wired tracker need an auto-electrician?

We recommend professional installation for hard-wired units. Documentation and wiring diagrams are available for technically capable teams. The 4G OBD tracker does not require an electrician—plug-and-play via the OBD port.
